Jagran Lakecity University is designed as a practice based and research driven institute that pioneers internationally benchmarked liberal education in central India. Established under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act 1956 and is based out of the beautiful city of lakes, Bhopal, it is one of the fastest growing and one of the most awarded universities of central India.
Currently, the university is offering 56 degree programs to more than 3200 students from 8 countries and 27 states of India. The university has 27 partnerships with international universities and MNCs, ensuring that the students get hands-on experience with real-world challenges, both nationally and internationally.
The university has numerous partnerships with top industries and international educational institutes, ensuring the students get great exposure both nationally and internationally. JLU Bhopal is the only participating university from Central India ERASMUS+ programme under the Tuning India Project, funded by the European Commission and is also currently the country chair for Association of Universities of Asia Pacific (AUAP).
The University has been awarded the QS IGauge E-Learning Excellence for Academic Digitisation (E-Lead) Certification 2020, India Today and Outlook India, has ranked Jagran School of Journalism and Mass Communication, JLU Bhopal as No.1 in Madhya Pradesh and top 15 in India in 2020.

Dr. Mittal was formerly a Dean In-charge of the Unitedworld School of Law, Karnavati University and a former faculty of law in the National Law University Odisha (NLUO). He has also worked with the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India in the Supreme Court of India on invitation as Assistant Registrar (Research).
During the national lockdown in April 2020, Dr. Mittal established an online law teaching platform called Virtual Law School (VLS) of KETAS Education Foundation. It is a unique experiment where the law teachers and lawyers donate their law teaching hours and teach completely on a pro bono basis. Dr. Mittal is also a founder of Judicial Preparation and Advisory Center (JPAC) which is also a law teachers’ driven initiative.
Dr. Mittal graduated in B.S.L.LL.B. from the University of Pune and completed LL.M. (Human Rights) from the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore. He completed his Ph.D. (in Law) from NLUO in the field of access to justice for the rural poor (Gram Nyayalayas). Dr. Mittal is a recipient of a Scholarship from the Charitable Trust Committee of International Bar Association, London. Prior to joining legal academics, Dr. Mittal has worked with civil society organisations across India. He has led various access to justice projects jointly funded by the Ministry of Law & Justice, Govt. of India and UNDP, during his stint with Rural Litigation and Entitlement Kendra, Dehradun. Dr. Mittal has worked in more than 150 villages of India as part of several research and empowerment programs for women, children and disadvantaged groups and indigenous population. Dr. Mittal’s areas of research and teaching are online education, teaching pedagogy, access to justice, criminal procedure, alternative disputes resolution (ADR), banking law and human rights.
Dr. Mittal has published in international and national law journals on wide range of legal issues including two-tier arbitration process, third party funded arbitration, euthanasia, access to justice, gender disparity in Indian judiciary, decline of NHRC in a populist regime (forthcoming), etc. Dr. Mittal also regularly writes in popular media like Bar and Bench, Deccan Herald, New Indian Express, the Statesman, etc.
