Named after the chairman and founder of the Hero Group, Dr. Brijmohan Lall Munjal, BML Munjal University is engaged in creating, preserving, and imparting internationally benchmarked knowledge and skills to a diverse community of students from across the world. Leadership

Prof. Dr. Pritam Baruah, Dean School of Law

Pritam Baruah, PhD (UCL), BCL (Oxford), BA BL (NALSAR) is Professor and Dean, School of Law, BML Munjal University. He researches and teaches Legal Philosophy, Constitutional Law, and Constitutional Theory. His current work involves examining how constitutional courts employ moral values in decision-making; and the theory and practice of democracy in India, China and the European Union. Previously Pritam was Professor of Law and Executive Director for the Center for Public Law and Jurisprudence at O.P. Jindal Global University, where he also served as Associate Dean-Institution Building. He has taught at the National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata, was a Teaching Fellow at University College London, and has held visiting professorships at the University of Ottawa, China University of Politics and Law (Beijing), and Humboldt University, Berlin. He has contributed to two Supreme Court of India Commissions, and was a member of the legal team of the Supreme Court constituted Central Vigilance Commission on the Public Distribution System. He has also practiced law at the Supreme Court of India. His work on legal philosophy and constitutional law has been published by reputed international and national publishers.

Admission Process
  • Selection Criteria: LSAT—India, CLAT, BMU-SAT, SAT
  • Eligibility Criteria:
    • For B.A LL.B. and B.B.A LL.B.:
      • Applicants appearing for their class 12 examinations from any of the Boards affiliated to the Council of Boards of School Education (COBSE) or National or International Boards recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) with a minimum aggregate as per BCI norms in class 12 examinations are eligible to apply.
      • AIU recognizes and grants equivalence to systems of education subject to a minimum of 12 years of schooling.
      • For Cambridge/lGCSE examinations and the approved British Examination bodies a minimum five subjects including English at the O Level and two/three subjects at the A Level will be required for the student to be eligible to apply.
      • For the IB Diploma awarded by IBO, Geneva, 24 points with 3 subjects at Higher Level (HL) and 3 subjects at Standard Level (SL) are required for the student to be eligible to apply.
      • Applicants who are Foreign Nationals/ Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs)/ Non-Resident Indians (NRls)/ Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) must have passed the qualifying examination or equivalent from any system of education as recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) with a minimum aggregate of 60% or equivalent.
      • The applicant is required to have completed one of the following entrance examinations: CLAT/LSAT-India/BMU SAT/SAT.
      • Candidates are advised to appear for BMU-SAT in case results of tests have not been announced or are not available.
    • For LL.B. (Hons.):
      • BMU’s Admissions Committee considers academic performance and the student’s context to understand each individual’s journey and their potential to grow and contribute as a member of the diverse community at BMU.
      • Possessing an undergraduate degree is mandatory for admission into the LLB (Hons) programme. Candidates must hold an undergraduate degree from a recognised University with 50% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA in any discipline including Humanities, Business Administration, Commerce, or Science.
      • Applicants who are Foreign Nationals/ Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs)/ Non-Resident Indians (NRls)/ Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) and who have completed their undergraduate degree from a foreign University are eligible to apply. Such international students are required to have passed the qualifying examination with a minimum aggregate of 50% or equivalent marks and shall be required to obtain an equivalence certificate, including percentage of marks from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
      • At present there are no age-related restrictions for the purpose of admission into the LLB (Hons) programme. Age limits shall apply in accordance with rules that might be framed by appropriate authorities.
      • Under Early Admissions students can apply even if their final year graduation results are awaited. In such cases, BMU will extend a Provisional Offer to selected candidates who are in the final year of graduation, and the final offer is subject to the completion of the undergraduate degree and verification of scores/results by BMU.
      • Candidates are advised to appear for BMU-SAT in case results of tests have not been announced or are not available.
